Water Restriction Update
The City of Lago Vista is currently in Stage 5 Emergency Water Condition Restriction, per the declaration made on 23 June 2018. This Stage will continue until further notice.
The City of Lago Vista has two water treatment plants. The water restriction is due to the failure of three pumps used to operate water treatment plant 1. Early Saturday morning, plant 1 experienced a strong enough power surge to cause damage to the water intake system and the 3 submerged pumps. The system was/is equipped with surge protection equipment but the surge was so strong that the equipment could not handle the impact.
The second plant has the capacity to serve our daily water treatment demand. However, plant 1 is used to offset some of the stress that is placed on the second plant during the treatment process.
City staff has effectively returned plant 1 to operating at reduced capacity and is working diligently to have the plant operating at full capacity by week’s end. Our goal is to remove the water restriction by Friday 29 June 2018.
To conserve water, we ask that you join us in supporting our City’s efforts to keep our water reserve at a favorable level. Restrictions are for all outdoor watering only -watering lawns, gardens, washing vehicles, etc.. This restriction does not apply to any indoor water usage – bathing, washing dishes, doing laundry, and other activities within the household.
The City of Lago Vista will periodically provide updates and information via the City’s website and Facebook page.
