Youth Advisory Committee Accepting Applications

PRESS RELEASE
Youth Advisory Committee Accepting Applications
28 April 2019

The City of Lago Vista is excited to announce that the Youth Advisory Committee is currently accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Youth Advisory Committee consists of 7 members.  Each member must be an active student in good standing at Lago Vista High School or with your high school curriculum (private, homeschool, etc.).  The term of membership is based upon the school year the member will be entering.  If an incoming sophomore is appointed to the Committee, then that student will serve a three-year term.  Terms expire in May of the year in which the student is classified as a senior.

The Youth Advisory Committee is responsible for working with the Mayor to involve the youth population of our community.  This Committee meets once per month but can have additional called meetings when a need arises.  This committee is also tasked with identifying an item of concern within the City that they would like to change.  They can take this project to the State Youth Advisory Committee Conference which is hosted annually by the Texas Municipal League and network with other youth advisory committees from across the State.

Anyone interested in applying to the Youth Advisory Committee can pick up the application at City Hall, Lago Vista High School or download an application on the City website.  The deadline to apply is 30 May 2019.

The City of Lago Vista is a home rule municipality located in the Hill Country of Travis County, Texas. The City was incorporated in 1984 and operates under the council-manager form of government with a Mayor and six Council members. The current population of Lago Vista is estimated at 8,046.
